Alan has been a leading practitioner of formal risk management and information governance
for more than a decade.
Through the application of formal risk management principles in the mid-1990's Alan
established the world's first regulated e-commerce gambling regulatory methodologies
in the Northern Territory of Australia. He was part of the management team
which transformed casino regulation in Australia from a supervision and compliance
role of 24x7 on-site government inspectors to risk management based regulation.
This has lead to substantial savings and streamlining of industry, while continuing
to protect implement government's regulatory requirements.
Alan has spoken at many industry fora about re-engineering regulatory practices
through formal risk management. He has consulted to several regulatory authorities,
and developed purpose made regulatory methodologies, which provide appropriate control
while allowing a viable economic environment for the regulated industry.
Alan has been developing controls for e-commerce systems since the mid-1990's; consulting
to some of the world's leading companies since Dec-1998, in relation to information
governance and risk management. He is recognised internationally as a leading
expert of information governance including risk management. He has appeared
as an expert witness before government reviews into technology-based gambling since
early as 1995 (including the Australian Senate Review into Australia's Online Gambling
Industry).
